Alcorn Professor Invited to Speak at GRSS Meeting
Dr. Yaw Twumasi, Research Professor of Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (Advanced Technologies), was invited by the Center of Excellence for Remote Sensing Education and Research (CERSER) to be the guest speaker during the March 3, 2009 meeting of the Geoscience and Remote Sensing Society (GRSS), Eastern North Carolina Chapter. The lecture will be held at Elizabeth City State University in North Carolina.
Dr. Yaw A. Twumasi received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geography and Master of Environmental Studies with concentrations in Environmental Planning and GIS, both from York University, Canada. He also holds a Ph.D. degree from Alabama A&M University. Dr. Twumasi's current research focus is on the application of remote sensing and GIS technology in natural resources management.
He is the author of Park Management in Ghana Using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Remote Sensing Technology, New York : Edwin Mellen Press (ISBN: 0-7734-5990-1), 329pp. He has a second book forthcoming titled Geo-information Science: A Key Tool for Sustainable Resource Management.
