Title: Mr. Norvell Davis, Senior Design Project student from Electromechanical Engineering Technology, Department of Advanced Technologies gave a demonstration to Mr. P. J. Waldrop, Legislative Assistant, with United States Senator Mr. Thad Cochran.
Description: Mr. Norvell Davis, Senior Design Project student from Electromechanical Engineering Technology, Department of Advanced Technologies gave a demonstration to Mr. P. J. Waldrop, Legislative Assistant, with United States Senator Mr. Thad Cochran. Mr. Norvell Davis a native of Fayette, MS is developing a prototype for an Alert System for Homeland Security Application at Alcorn State University’s Systems Research Institute. The system has an event based trigger and that event may be user defined such as flooding, intrusion and other events. The prototype can also be used in protecting agriculture enclosures, such as a green house, in this case the event may be triggered by contamination and chemical levels. System Research Institute’s research scientists also updated Mr. Waldrop about other advanced technology projects for agriculture applications. Mr. Waldrop was at Alcorn State University to interact with university officials, research scientists, and visit laboratories at the University . Mr. Waldrop was escorted by Dr. Samuel L. White and Dr. Alton B. Johnson.
