Title: Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Professional and Student Development Conference held at the University of Memphis in Memphis, TN.
Description: SOCIETY OF MANUFACTURING ENGINEERS (SME) PROFESSIONAL/STUDENT DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE

 I. Department of Advanced Technologies, Alcorn state University (ASU) faculty and students participated in the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Professional and Student Development Conference held at the University of Memphis in Memphis, TN on October 14-15, 2005. The SME organization collaborated with respected manufacturing leaders, business organizations and professional development experts to provide high-quality sessions and program for members, non-members and students who attended this conference. Faculty and student participants from 15 other universities enjoyed a full agenda of learning and networking activities. This trip was funded by ASU’s Title III project.

II. Students were invited to attend a Student Development Conference where they took advantage of an opportunity to network and compete with their peers in the following areas:

 • The Manufacturing Quiz Bowl - Alcorn took the fourth position in the Manufacturing Quiz Bowl. The Alcorn student team was represented by Samantha Walker, Kermit Milloy and Ernest Addae.

• The Poster Competitive - Donald Carter and Sidney Blankenship from Alcorn State University prepared a poster entitled, "Networking of Industrial Robots" for the poster competition under the advisement of departmental faculty, Mr. Pritpal Dang and Dr. Ongjen Kuljaca. The poster was presented by Donald Carter at the University of Memphis.

• Design Competition - Alcorn State University’s team took third place in the deign competition. The students design competition team comprised of Kermit Milloy, Ernest Addae and Travis Gaines. The team was supervised by Drs. David Addae, Bruce McGowan and Steve Adzanu.

III. The following list of students and faculty participated in the Professional/Student Development Conference at Fogelman Executive Center on the University of Memphis campus in Memphis, TN, the birthplace of the "blues" and home of "Elvis Presley’s Graceland".

Students: Ernest Addae, Kermit Milloy, Donlad Carter, Samantha Walker, Travis Gaines, Jocelyn Lewis

Faculty: Dr. David Addae (SME Campus Cordinator), Dr. Steve Adzanu (SME Faculty Advisor), Mr. Pritpal Dang, Dr. Ognjen Kuljaca, and Dr. Bruce McGowan (Assistant Dean).
